Some links on franklinetech.com are affiliate links. That means if you click a link and make a purchase, I may earn a commission — at no additional cost to you.
What this means in practice
When I recommend a tool or service, I look for an affiliate program for it. If one exists, I use an affiliate link. If one doesn't exist — like with Mullvad, Bitwarden, or Brave — I still recommend the tool because it's the right recommendation.
The commission does not change what I recommend or how I write about it. I don't recommend tools I wouldn't use myself, and I don't avoid recommending a competitor because they don't have an affiliate program.
Active affiliate relationships
I currently have affiliate relationships with the following programs:
| Program | Category |
|---|---|
| NordVPN | VPN |
| Surfshark | VPN |
| ProtonVPN / Proton | VPN, Email, Cloud Storage, Email Aliases |
| IPVanish | VPN |
| 1Password | Password Manager |
| Incogni | Data Broker Removal |
| DeleteMe | Data Broker Removal |
| SimpleLogin | Email Aliases |
| YubiKey (Yubico) | Hardware Security Keys |
| Tresorit | Cloud Storage |
| Bitdefender | Security Tools |
| Malwarebytes | Security Tools |
This list is updated as relationships change.
What I don't do
- I don't accept payment to write positive reviews
- I don't accept free products in exchange for coverage
- I don't disclose affiliate relationships only on the resources page and hide them elsewhere — every post with an affiliate link carries a disclosure
FTC compliance
This disclosure is made in accordance with the FTC's guidelines on endorsements and testimonials (16 CFR Part 255). Affiliate links are used throughout the site, including in posts, comparison pages, and the Resources page.
